The Summer Olympics recently ended. What a display of athletic prowess! The United States led all nations in medals with 126, including 40 gold. Our American women accounted for 66 medals, 26 of them gold. Had they been their own nation, our women would have placed third overall (and ahead of our American men)!
We love to see physically fit people at their best. Watching gifted athletes shows us what’s possible and reinforces what hard work can do.
This ought to make us ask, “What about spiritual accomplishment? Must we be spiritual athletes to please God? How fit must we be? How hard must we work?” In other words, what’s required both to be blessed by God and to become a blessing to others?
Join us this coming Sunday as I examine what’s needed to be a medalist in the Kingdom of God.
Nominations and Leadership
Centenary’s annual Charge Conference is scheduled for October 27. That means we’re preparing for a new cycle of nominations for church leadership positions. Contact the church office or one of our appointed pastors if you’d like to serve on an administrative committee or ministry work team. We need your time and talents!
