In our Book of Discipline, the Charge Conference is described as “the basic unit in the Connectional system.” It is the means by which we as a congregation celebrate our ministry, plan for the future, name our leaders, and connect to the broader ministry of the United Methodist Church in North Carolina. On November 7, 2021 at 6:00pm, our charge conference met both in person and virtually. Under the direction of our District Superintendent, we remembered our Baptism and heard a word from our Bishop, Leonard Fairley.
At that Charge Conference, we approved a number of actions:
• We elected the officers for the coming year. A full nominations report is available in the church office.
• We approved the salary for our two appointed pastors.
• We approved the complete budget for the coming year. A full budget is available in the church office.
• We approved the projects around the 250th Anniversary, including authorizing the borrowing of money as needed. The details around financing are available in the church office.
The full report of the charge conference is available in the church office. In the coming days, you will receive more information about the budget for our congregation for 2022. With the Capital Campaign moving along, it is important to remember that the life of our congregation continues. We still have to make the doughnuts, as it were.
We hope you are prayerfully considering your support for the ordinary life of our congregation and the mission and ministry in which we are active. As is often the case in the fall of the year, we are in a bit of a cash crunch and would ask you to consider a special gift to the life of our congregation. We are so grateful for our life together and know that God is leading us forward into new ministries.
