Many of us discovered during the pandemic that we could live without a lot of things we once believed were essential. This revelation extended even to participation in the life of the church. For some, in-person worship became (and still is) nonessential. Others let go of Bible study, Sunday School, Youth group, or missions and outreach. Many others were surprised at how important their church really was t them. What's that old saying? "You don't know how important something is until you lose it." Think about your own Christian journey. What parts of it could you do without? This Sunday, I'm preaching from Luke 4, where the very beginning of Jesus's ministry is recounted. I want to challenge us all with a question: "What about my experience of Jesus Christ can I not live without?"
