Happy Easter!
Nope...your calendar isn't wrong and I'm not mistaken...it is Easter friends, and We are Easter People. Easter isn't just a day of church, candy, baskets, egg hunts, obligatory or silly family photos etc. and it's more than a liturgical season. It's more a way of life and how we are to order and live our lives, modeled through the words, action and witness of Christ. Easter Sunday is certainly the most important day of the Christian calendar and it should truly set the tone for how the Christian community orders their lives and carries out the business of being the church. Over the next few weeks, Pastor Tom and I will continue to explore this idea of what it means to be Easter People-this week, we'll talk about how we do this as a community.
I'm heading off to Camp Don Lee today with 11 of your Centenary confirmands and some generous helpers. We are going to talk about and explore living lives out as Easter People through our prayers, presence, gifts, witness and our service. That's our vows of being United Methodist Christians...that we will LIVE OUT our faith through these practices. We ask for your prayers for a time of growth, reflection and 'aha moments' in these young lives this weekend as they consider their role in the church. I'll be with you Sunday as we dive deeper into Living Into Community...that is if I make it through Friday and Saturday with our youth at Don Lee in one piece.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to connecting Sunday at 8:30, 9:30 or 11:00 - please join us for worship in person, on Facebook or on 97.9 FM.
